From an editorial office in the framework of the Yugoslavia Publishing House, established in 1956, Yugoslav Survey first became an independent enterprise, then a public agency. It changed its founders, status and position frequently, like the majority of media of the former Yugoslav federation. Since April 2013 it operates under PE Službeni glasnik. The Merger Agreement between the Public Institution Yugoslav Survey and the Public Enterprise Službeni glasnik, which was approved by the Government of Republic of Serbia, was signed on 28 December 2012.
Its first edition was the (Yugoslav) Survey magazine, which is still its main one and carries the name of Survey – Republic of Serbia now. It has been published also in English since 1960. Besides the mentioned magazine, the Yugoslav Survey has also published a large number of titles in a wide variety of areas.
In the awareness of our clients’ needs, as well as technological trends, the Survey has developed several on-line databases (links), which in terms of contents, concept and technology, constitute a unique offer on the Serbian market.
The Pregled (Survey) has been published in the Serbian language ever since 1957, as a monthly magazine until 1990 and as a quarterly one from 1991 onwards. (It has been published as a quarterly in English from 1960 onwards). During the existence of the second (FPR/SFR Yugoslavia) and third, shrunken, Yugoslavia (FRY), it was published under the name of Jugoslovenski pregled (Yugoslav Survey), which is also the still valid registered name of its publisher. From 2003 to June 2006, the magazine was published under the name Pregled – Srbija i Crna Gora (Survey – Serbia and Montenegro). The Government of the Republic of Serbia assumed the founding rights to it in June 2006, following the proclamation of Montenegro’s independence. It has been published under its present name since then.
This magazine is a unique base of systematised and reliable facts, analyses and documents relating to Serbia now and S&M, FRY, SFRY and FPRY formerly. The analyses and reviews are based on official statistics and other reliable sources. Given the wide variety of topics covered, factual and documentary nature of articles and standards abided by in their preparation and presentation, this periodical is also regarded as a current national encyclopaedia and an often quoted source of information about it. All issues of this magazine have been published on the Internet in On-line version ever since 1999.
